How Ren came to be....

Hi I'm Karen, but you can call me Ren. I've been in the hairdressing industry for over fourteen years and am enjoying my work now more than ever. Back in the day I started my training with Toni&Guy Hairdressing  where I took my apprenticeship at Henley-on-Thames UK before finishing up at the London academy. I'm extremely proud to have started my career working under and learning from some of the best stylists in the industry. I later moved on as a senior stylist to work at Essensuals Toni&Guy salons in Guildford UK before emigrating to Australia in late 2006. When I left England I felt that I should broaden my horizons so decided to leave the Toni&Guy umbrella and experience a different world of hairdressing. For the next stage of my career Velvet and Brown hair studios Sydney was the place for me. Under a very knowledgeable manager and hairdresser, I was thrown into my colour work and undertook many courses through Wella professional at the Sydney academy. It was at Velvet and Brown where I really started to build on my hairdressing skills and also started to take much interest in hair up styling, wedding styling and creative styling. After 4 years in Sydney it was time to leave the city life and move to where my heart was calling me, Byron Bay. I decided to set up as a freelance stylist so I could really concentrate on doing my best work possible without rushed appointment times and sales goals and without obligations to any particular brands/products. It gave me freedom to experiment with a wider range of products and to find products I genuinely believe in and gave me time to broaden my skills into makeup artistry. Being freelance also enabled me to be much more flexible for my clients so we all get to enjoy the experience. So here we are. Here I am. This is me. Hope you like what you see!
